This blog is a faith journey on a path to health and healing. It is about faith in God for your health, physical and emotional healing, and abundant life.
The path to health and healing is a faith journey because it takes faith to see things that are not visible, to believe things that are not currently a reality. It takes faith to believe in the promises of God, especially when there is little proof in today’s Christian culture that His healing promises are true. It seems that those in the body of Christ enjoy no better health than those in the world. It seems that those in the body of Christ seek modern medical care – doctor’s appointments, prescriptions, counseling sessions – at the same rate as the world. Furthermore, there is little support in the Christian culture to believe God for health and healing. How many Christ-centered healing rooms are in your geographical area? How often does your church hold a healing prayer service? Does your church routinely send out elders to pray over the sick as James 5 instructs? When was the last time you heard from the pulpit instruction and admonition from the Word of God related to health and healing?
If you want a genie-God or a quick fix to health and healing, then this journey is not for you. God’s healing is freely given by His grace, but it is conditional. At first, I was a little put off that He did not heal just for the asking. Illness and disease are so devastaing on individuals and families – physically, emotionally, financially, in every way. Why would He not want to restore health to those who sincerely and desparately cry out to Him for it? Why would He not want testimonies of His healing power to reach a lost and dying world? Why would He not want to bring glory to His name through miraculous healings?
I am learning the answers to these questions on my healing journey, and I want to share them with you. If you want your faith to grow; if you want to have God reveal His truths about health, disease and healing; and if you want to receive His healing touch and be resotred to the health He intended for you, then begin your healing journey today. You are in for the journey of your life!
The road is not always easy. I know first-hand. He has given me opportunity to learn, which means I have gotten sick. I have lacked faith and been discouraged. But He has also given me victory! He has healed me of a recurring nightmare, PMS, skin cancer, joint pain, high blood pressure and back pain. I have seen Him heal others of similar issues as well as the scars of abuse. The journey does not seem to end. As I write, the LORD and I are still at work on other health issues. How else can I be of any use to Him -- or you -- where healing is concerned unless I know personally and intimately what you are going through?
I invite you to take this healing journey. Walk with Him and let the LORD through His Spirit reshape your thinking about your life and make good on His promises as you discover His healing ways. I don’t want you to miss anything that The Great Physician has available to you. If your earthly doctor told you to follow a particular course of treatment and promised you would receive health and healing, would you do it? How much more then your Healer in heaven! Don’t give up and don’t let discouragement get you down. Resolve to have faith in God and to make it through to the end. Your very life may depend on it.
